Biography
Teia Pons Matas is a Spanish artist. She did her training at Olot Fine Arts school but also took private lessons. Later on, she taught drawing and painting until 2006, she is now the director of an art center at Esplai.
According to Teia Pons Matas, art is part of all natural creations and mundane life. Due to this principle,she experiments with everything: traffic lights in cities, open and colorful umbrellas, people with raincoats, suitcases, hot air balloons with contrasting colors.
She combines acrylic and oil painting, the artist mainly does research on chromatic ranges, shades and intensity of contrasts. She mostly works with a spatula. Teia Pons Matas creates flat tints with warm and intense colors which are overlaid on skies, constructions, characters and geometric looking objects. They seem to trigger unsettling depth and make room for imagination.
