Biography

Javier Corzo was born in 1986 in Tenerife, the Canary Islands. He has developed his professional activity within the audiovisual industry, making television commercials (without having a television) and video games (without playing video games). His profession has taken him to Madrid, Barcelona, Glasgow, Móstoles, Leamington Spa (UK) and Malta, where he currently lives, practicing as a Sunday artist when his job allows it.

His artwork is composed of fine line drawings made in notebooks, reminiscent of the Japanese illustration and Franco-Belgian comics and organized as a visual diary. His process is linked to walking and contemplation, in relation to the flâneur of Baudelaire and the distracted perception of Walter Benjamin. The amateur artist, globalization, the lack of feeling of belonging, the tourist as the archetype of the capitalist subject and the ruin and its symbolic value are some issues that we can find implicitly in his images.
