Mark Stopforth is a highly sensitive and expressive painter who powerfully depicts the wild and dramatic beauty of British landscapes. His work pays homage to the tradition of the sublime, an artistic movement that seeks to showcase the grandeur of nature.
For twenty years, he has devoted himself to painting landscapes marked by stormy skies and rough seas, in the spirit of Romanticism, a movement that explored the intense beauty of nature. He also draws inspiration from memories of his childhood spent in the Fens of East Anglia, a region of vast skies and distant horizons. These powerful images remain at the heart of his art.
In addition to painting, Stopforth is a writer and poet. He recently published a book about his work, . His work has been exhibited in the UK and abroad, including several times at the Royal West of England Academy.
