Hiran Mitra

Born in 1945, Hiran Mitra left the village of Kharagpur at the age of 14 and settled down towards Kolkata, was guided by its passion for the art.

Hiran Mitra ended its studies in to the Governmental School of Fine Arts of Kolkata in 1966. Afterward, the artist distanced himself on several aspects of the Indian culture, as the art, the literature, the cinema or the theater.

Today, the artist lives and works in India and in the United Kingdom.

Hiran Mitra is a talented artist who has an impressive artistic course ! His works are exposed(explained) during exhibitions solo since 1966.

The artist also displayed(exposed) to very numerous occasions during collective exhibitions(exposures) since 1969.

Many of his works are in private collections today.

The works of Hiran Mitra are particularly poetic.

Here is one of its quotations on the entitled series " The fall of leaves " that Free Is Art Gallery has the honor to expose : " when a leave gets loose slowly from a tree, it takes the memory and an end of lost time.

To slow down this unbearable detachment of its origins, since my youth, I wanted to reorganize, to repaint, to recreate and sometimes to reproduce to restore him life. There is no difference between real and unreal.

Fascinated by their well-matched colors, their motives and their forms, I would look for their only stories.

Recompose their music and their lament through the tracks of my dance calligraphic forms. Lines on leaves become confused with the thoughts and the memories. Tints Sepia tints, deep browns and black's tracks make us relive the former passages.
