Biography
Sophie Stone is an American artist. She received her BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009.
Stone’s textile installations incorporate found domestic materials which Stone gathers from personal and impersonal connections. The objects are transformed through Stone’s artistic process in which she deconstructs, weaves and embellishes them to create artistic pieces which comment on domestic materiality.
Exhibitions of Stone’s work have taken place across the United States, most recently at Halsey McKay Gallery (2022) in New York. In 2017, Stone was the artist-in-residence at The Range, Colorado.
