Christopher de Leon

United States

Biography

San Francisco-based Haitian artist Christopher de Leon is talented in various artistic styles, from graffiti and street art to illustrations and wood burning. He attended the Art Institute of San Francisco and the Academy for a few years, but had to drop out due to financial reasons. Now a self-taught artist, de Leon expands his skills by constantly doodling with a pencil and pen. Versatile and always willing to try new things, the artist often mentions sculpture as his preferred medium. De Leon has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Game On at 1:AM Gallery , You Will Miss Me When I Am Gone, the Signs of the Apocalypse at Myplasticheart in New York City, and Tales at Dragatomy Gallery.

Christopher de Leon's work was a resounding success in the group exhibition Game On at 1:AM Gallery. His work is the culmination of the artist's exploration of the clash of two worlds: his upbringing and his ethnic roots. It was the perfect opportunity for de Leon to reconnect with his Filipino roots by exploring folklore and mythology.

Christopher de Leon often draws spontaneously, trying to express his emotions and what he feels at the moment, something he struggles to do through speech or writing. De Leon's work rarely has a specific message, choosing instead to leave the interpretation to the viewer.
