Presentation

My photographer name is qpfeydel. I've been photographing what surrounds me, touches me and inspires me since I was 20. I started with film at the University of Lille I, where I was studying physics. The student association provided a photo lab and I took part in the university photography workshop run by Philippe Timmerman. He supported me and encouraged me to continue. So I did... Since then, I've gone digital and my photography has evolved considerably...

For some time now, I've been practising cyanotype photography. Initially inspired by my friend Christine Bard, it was Hélène Beelkens who helped me return to the roots of film photography over a year ago. It takes me far away from everyday life, takes my imagination on a journey, and at the same time, I'm right where I am, through the feel of the paper, the smells, observing the colour changes caused by the sun on the printed paper. The discovery of the result anchors me in a craft, from the first emotions/observations to the final cyanotype photo.

I've since discovered the Van Dyke process, which I happily mix with the cyanotype!

Travelling musings:

Imagine... You're on a train or in a car. Your attention may be focused on the scenery, the buildings, the people, the names of the towns, the advertising slogans and the graffiti as you pass by, but... it's too late! The speed of the vehicle will not allow you to follow the story of the people you see, to explore the landscapes or to finish reading, or perhaps the continuous scrolling is causing nerve impulses to fire between your neurons, taking your imagination wherever it wants to go. Welcome to the world of daydreams.
