"Marilyn" 2017, by Carlos Alejandro One of a kind piece, mixed media on wood 2017 Art is a way of living. For Carlos Alejandro, art is the art of the everyday. He explores the diversity of common man-made objects, reassembling them and creating new things, things that express a new idea. He uses the Dada concept to elevate everyday banal objects, transforming them into works of art with the intention of questioning and renewing the foundation of our beliefs
This captivating artwork integrates surrealist and modern elements, portraying a woman's face merged with abstract geometric forms and cloud motifs. Her hair and facial features blend seamlessly into a backdrop of soft clouds, imbuing the piece with a dreamlike, ethereal quality. The face, centrally positioned, features meticulously detailed eyes and lips, highlighting a striking contrast between reality and imagination. Triangular shapes intersect with the portrait, adding layers of depth and complexity, which invite the viewer to explore the interplay between the human and abstract. The use of muted colors enhances the artwork's serene, contemplative feel, while the frame's symmetrical design underscores its balanced composition. This innovative fusion of human likeness with abstract elements creates a compelling exploration of identity and perception.

Art is a way of living. For Carlos Alejandro, art is the art of the everyday.
He explores the diversity of common man-made objects, reassembling them, and creating new things, things that express a new idea.
He uses the Dada concept to elevate everyday banal objects, transforming them into works of art with the intention of questioning and renewing the foundation of our beliefs.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, ordained by destiny, born to a Colombian mother and Puerto Rican father, which at that time was stationed there with the U.S. Army. From then on, his interest in visual arts grew and that is how he decided to study Graphic Design in U.J.T.L. University in Bogota.
After finishing his studies, he took a different path and worked in depth on the visuals leading him to participate in a series of art and design exhibitions.
The lack of opportunities and his unwillingness to conform pushed him to travel to the U.S. to pursue his dream of becoming an artist.
In his work, Carlos Alejandro uses a vast array of non-conventional materials such as pills, hair, bottle caps, chopsticks, etc.
He takes common objects out of their context and using different techniques, he transforms them into art pieces, resulting in an interesting eclectic fusion with a strong influence of Dada. In his subject matter, one notices a great concern for the social aspect of the human being which to Alejandro, groups the universality of his environment, demonstrating a personal point of view that can put things in perspective, extending possible answers to common life issues such as human rights, spirituality, consumerism, recycling, etc.
In addition to his gallery showings, he has participated in cultural exchanges, workshops, and talks. He has also worked in done interior design for commercial spaces in Miami and Portland, Or.
