Presentation

In between, silent spaces open where experiences deposit themselves, call for transformation and gradually find their meaning. It is in these intervals that an inner narrative is constructed, the one that accompanies the gaze and finally takes the form of an image.
The exhibition "entre temps" proposes to travel through the work of Michaël Serfaty starting from these moments of passage.
The metronome of time unfolds there as a succession of pages, revealing by contrast the visible times as well as the out-of-times that profoundly shape a trajectory.
Through nearly fifty years of creation, one discovers the successive shifts of a photographic writing attentive to restoring a lived experience as accurately as possible.
Throughout the journey, aesthetic shifts appear that tell less the story of a style than that of a gaze in transformation.
Certain concerns fade, others emerge, while new forms come to answer this demand for accuracy. Photography then becomes the site of a continuous dialogue with the world. Each image seeks the form capable of welcoming this face-to-face with reality.
From one series to another, a same attention is thus drawn: to respond with sincerity to what presents itself to the gaze and to preserve the sensitive part.
"entre temps" invites to follow this discreet quest, where the passage of time gradually illuminates the links between the works and reveals the coherence of a photographic writing in motion.
