Biography

Sargis Hovhannisyan is an Armenian sculptor born in 1995 in Yerevan. His passion for three-dimensional form revealed itself early — he began sculpting at just six years old, working intuitively with whatever materials were at hand: plasticine, wood, and metal.

He completed his general education between 2002 and 2010, before continuing his studies at the Physics and Mathematics stream of the NPUA Senior School from 2010 to 2013 — a background that lends a quiet precision and structural logic to his artistic thinking.

Sargis works primarily in mixed media, combining stone and copper in ways that feel both ancient and entirely contemporary. He also works in the Steampunk style, bringing mechanical imagination and layered texture into his sculptural vocabulary. Above all, he is guided by a deep commitment to natural materials — in his world, the artificial has no place. Everything that enters his work must carry the weight and honesty of the natural world.

At the heart of his practice are deeply human themes: inner feeling, emotional experience, and the complexity of human relationships. His sculptures do not simply occupy space — they invite the viewer inward, toward something felt rather than merely seen.

Sargis Hovhannisyan is an artist of quiet conviction, carving meaning from stone and copper with hands that have been learning the language of form since childhood.
