Biography
Alexandr Klemens is a Czech-based contemporary painter whose work explores the relationship between human presence, memory, light, and perception.
Born in Moscow in 1971, Klemens studied architecture, graduating in 1996. His artistic career began in the early 1990s, and painting gradually became his primary means of exploring the emotional and psychological dimensions of everyday life.
His paintings often depict urban interiors, cafés, anonymous figures, and fleeting moments of human interaction. Moving between contemporary impressionism, figurative painting, and more conceptual approaches, he creates atmospheric compositions in which light, colour, and gesture suggest narratives that remain deliberately unresolved.
Alongside his urban scenes, Klemens develops more introspective bodies of work concerned with consciousness, identity, memory, and the boundaries of perception.
He has participated in exhibitions since 1991 and has developed an international presence, particularly in France and other European countries. His paintings are represented through several European galleries, including Carré d'artistes.
Klemens lives and works in the Czech Republic, where he also teaches drawing and visual arts.
