Biography

Virginie Galy develops a graphic work around geometry, rhythm, and repetition.

Through her series, she manually creates meticulous compositions inspired notably by mandalas and Wallisian tapestries. Her works are built progressively, motif after motif, line after line, in a process where drawing becomes as much an artistic gesture as a contemplative practice.

The repetition and precision of the line give rise to complex graphic architectures, playing with symmetry, movement, and balance. Each composition evolves intuitively until it finds its own harmony.

From a distance, her works offer a global, structured, and almost hypnotic reading. Upon approaching them, they reveal the richness of the manual work: a multitude of details, variations, and subtle irregularities.

At the border between geometric abstraction, contemporary drawing, and meditative art, Virginie Galy's work thus invites the gaze to slow down and get lost in the motif.

In 2026, she will notably present a set of twenty-two works from the series at a solo exhibition in Burgundy.
