Biography
Viktoriia Pigarina is a contemporary artist based in Batumi, Georgia. She studied art and later graduated from the Institute of Fashion and Design in Vladikavkaz in 2004. Her artworks was presented in Artists of the 21st Century, an international online exhibition held under the auspices of UNESCO (2025), and in a 2026 exhibition dedicated to women from around the world at the Artists' Union Hall in Vladikavkaz.
Pigarina's practice centers on the human figure and explores beauty, inner strength, individuality, and cultural diversity. Her travels through Africa deepened her interest in the ways identity and personal histories are expressed through appearance, gesture, and cultural context.
Her visual language is also informed by her professional experience in stained glass, including work on large-scale projects for an Armenian church and Orthodox chapels. This background strengthened her sensitivity to color, light, and decorative structure.
At the core of Viktoriia Pigarina's artwork is a humanistic view of portraiture. Rather than emphasizing difference as distance, she approaches each subject as an individual story, using painting to reflect the dignity, complexity, and shared humanity she sees across cultures.
