Biography
Koen Betjes, born in 1992, is a Dutch artist whose unique career is rooted primarily in the culinary world. After an accomplished career in several top restaurants, he felt the need to change direction and give himself the freedom to create at his own pace. It was by letting his heart speak that he returned to his first passion: painting.
Fascinated by modern art from a young age, Koen Betjes has long nurtured a desire to explore the canvas as a space for expression. His style, which he describes as a cross between pop art and the world of Herman Brood, is distinguished by spontaneous energy, bright colors, and free gestures.
With a rich background in culinary art, where rigor and creativity coexist, he now transposes these qualities into his pictorial work. His works reflect a deep need for authenticity and emotion, celebrating vitality, color, and the freedom to create without constraints.
