Biography
Lyudmila Ponomareva (b. 1973) is a multidisciplinary artist and a member of the Union of Russian Artists. Since beginning her professional exhibition practice in 2021, she has participated in international projects including Art3F at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (2023), CICPE in Haikou and Cultural Bridge in Shanghai (2026). Her work was also presented in Regions. Distant and Close at Erarta Museum in St. Petersburg and Cultural Dialogues: Between the Dominican Republic and Russia at the Russian State Library in Moscow in 2026.
Working across painting and drawing, Lyudmila Ponomareva explores collective memory and the emotional value of ordinary things. The home appears as a space of protection, intimacy, and family memory, while plants and landscapes connect personal experience with cultural ideas about nature.
Grass is a recurring motif in her recent practice: its changing colors and textures evoke walking barefoot, summer, open meadows, and direct physical contact with the natural world. Through tactile surfaces, familiar imagery, and close attention to detail, Ponomareva turns seemingly simple subjects into carriers of memory.
Her works create spaces for slowing down, where everyday images can recover their emotional weight and reconnect the viewer with experiences of home, nature, and belonging.
