Description

Two mysterious blue female figures emerge from a vivid orange textile composition, creating a contemporary artwork that explores motherhood, responsibility, and the invisible threads connecting human lives. The contrast between cool blue faces and cascading orange cords gives the work a strong visual identity, combining symbolic figurative art with the tactile presence of sculptural textile elements.

Part of the Choice series, the artwork presents the Mother as a figure of creation and responsibility, shaping and influencing human destinies. The icon-inspired faces are rendered using a photographic inversion technique, giving them an otherworldly appearance. One figure turns toward a darker presence, representing both an external force and the hidden darkness within herself.

The small orange ball of thread held by the central figure symbolizes intertwined destinies. The cords extending beyond the canvas continue this idea, representing the lives and relationships connecting people within modern society. Vibrant orange threads contrast with turquoise geometric patterns associated with the visual language of a digital city, bringing together emotional intensity and contemporary urban imagery.

Created with oil, acrylic, polyester and cotton cords, wood, and canvas, the artwork combines painted surfaces with three-dimensional textile elements. The subtle inward curve of the central canvas and the irregular wooden support introduce additional depth. Its distinctive vertical format makes it an expressive focal point for a contemporary interior, particularly for collectors interested in feminine symbolism, psychological themes, and experimental mixed-media art.

Materials: Oil and acrylic on canvas, polyester cord, cotton cord, and wood. Mixed-media textile artwork with sculptural hanging elements. The central section projects approximately 6 cm from the wall.

Shipping / Display: Ready to hang. The artwork is shipped in a protective box.

Presentation

Evgenia Rod is a contemporary artist. Trained in decorative and applied arts at the M. I. Isakovsky Institute of Arts, she has worked across painting, illustration, icon painting, textile, and design. In 2026, her work was presented in exhibitions in Russia, Belarus, and China, including Haikou CICPE 2026, Collegium in Orsha, Ars.VISIO Autumn Blues in Moscow, and The Element of Painting and Form in St. Petersburg. She joined the Union of Russian Artists in 2026.

Evgenia Rod combines painting, texture, embroidery, and collage to explore choice, self-regulation, contemplation, and the relationship between inner states and the external world. Her practice draws on Russian cultural traditions, symbolic systems, meditation, and other bodies of knowledge, translating them into a personal contemporary language rather than illustrating them literally.

Her compositions operate between intellectual and sensory perception. Symbols invite interpretation, while restricted color, rhythm, and tactile surfaces address the body and emotions. Orange and blue recur as a central contrast, marking shifts between calm and joy, reflection and action, tension and balance.

In series such as Choice and Meditation, Rod treats art as a space for conscious attention. Abstract forms and material surfaces become tools for navigating anxiety and information overload, while leaving viewers free to find their own meanings and inner points of balance.
