Description

Soft ivory and blush-pink magnolia blossoms unfold against an intense turquoise-blue sky. Thick, expressive strokes give the petals a sculptural quality, while dark branches and delicate buds introduce movement and contrast.

Created during the artist's springtime inspiration from Seoul, Magnolia Study celebrates the quiet beauty of nature within a busy city. The composition captures the freshness of flowering magnolias, transforming a fleeting seasonal moment into a vivid botanical artwork.

Painted in oil on paper, the piece combines richly textured impasto with spontaneous, energetic gestures. Pale lavender and creamy white highlights stand out against the saturated blue background, creating a lively yet delicate composition that evokes the excitement of spring and the simple pleasure of discovering flowers in bloom.

Shipping / Display: The artwork is shipped rolled in a protective tube and will require framing after delivery.

Presentation

Mily ART (Emiliia) is a contemporary painter based in Ubud, Indonesia. She graduated in 2015 from the Russian University of the Academy of Education in Moscow with a degree in Fine Arts.

Working primarily in oil with a palette knife, Emiliia creates expressive impasto paintings defined by rich texture, bold color, and dynamic movement. Her visual language is built through thick layers of paint, flowing drips, and energetic strokes that emphasize the physical presence of the medium. The surface of the canvas becomes an active field where color, light, and gesture interact.

Nature is the central source of her inspiration. Flowers and landscapes encountered during her travels transform into emotional landscapes—vivid, blooming compositions that reflect vitality, freedom, and renewal. Her ongoing series Flowing Flowers explores the sensation of awakening life, using intensified hues and sculptural impasto to convey emotional release and movement.

Emiliia often begins with plein air studies or travel photography, later developing these impressions into large-scale works. Rather than reproducing nature, she translates its energy into tactile color fields, allowing paint itself to embody growth and motion.

Her work has been presented in international and national exhibitions, including The Color of Summer at the Ostankino TV Tower (2024) and The Flower Kingdom at the Moscow Union of Artists (2022), where her painting Peonies received First Prize. She held a solo exhibition at IZO Gallery in Moscow in 2019.

Through expressive oil painting and sculptural texture, Emiliia creates contemporary works that celebrate the emotional power of nature—inviting viewers to slow down, feel presence, and reconnect with color as a living force.
