She who holds tomorrow, 2025

Wasiu Akande

The face of a woman is the face of the land—full of trials, yet rich with promise. Her gaze carries the memories of yesterday and the hope of tomorrow, reflecting a history shaped by resilience, sacrifice, and the courage to keep moving forward. Like flowers that bloom after the rain, she stands as a testament to the truth that no struggle can permanently silence growth, and no hardship can diminish the beauty of becoming.

The figure behind her serves as a powerful reminder that behind every step of progress lies the strength, sacrifice, and determination of women whose contributions often go unseen. It speaks to the generations of women who have endured, nurtured, built, and paved the way for others to rise. Their strength is not always expressed through loud declarations but through quiet endurance, unwavering faith, and the courage to stand firm even when the path ahead is uncertain.

This artwork celebrates womanhood as a symbol of resilience, hope, and transformation. It honours the beauty of a woman’s journey, acknowledging both the weight she carries and the possibilities she creates. She is not merely a witness to change; she is an agent of it, shaping the present while inspiring the future.

Ultimately, it is a tribute to the enduring power of women—a reminder that when women rise, communities grow, generations are strengthened, and new possibilities begin to unfold.
