Description

At the heart of the artistic creation "The Force that Generates Force" lies a powerful meditation on resilience, interconnection, and the intrinsic power that resides within and around us. This work transcends mere visual representation, delving deeply into the invisible currents that move life, nature, and the human spirit. The piece is born from the idea that true strength is not an isolated attribute or an act of dominance but rather a continuous cycle of energy that flows, nourishes, and is nourished by itself. It explores how strength emerges from vulnerabilities, like the roots of a tree that deepen into the earth in search of sustenance, making it more robust against storms. This work seeks not only to be observed but also experienced. It invites the viewer to reflect on the sources of their own strength and how this strength is nourished by relationships with others and the world around. The goal is to inspire a sense of shared power, an understanding that each act of strength generates more strength, in an endless cycle of growth and mutual support. "The Force that Generates Force" is more than a work of art; it is a manifesto on the human capacity to overcome, connect, and thrive. By engaging with this piece, the audience is expected to set aside preconceived notions of power and strength, recognizing instead the beauty and potency of vulnerability, interdependence, and continuous regeneration.

Cátia Goffinet, The Force that Generates Force, Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
Brazil  • 1973

Presentation

Cátia Goffinet is a Brazilian artist born in 1973 in the city of São Paulo.

Her art is immersed in geometric lines combined with mathematical concepts where she works with extremely calculated paintings and at the same time likes the idea of transforming her geometric works into organic movements.

The theme of her paintings varies between the concept of Time, Parallel Universes, Multiverses, on Energy as a concept of Creation and as a force that moves life.

She works with acrylic on canvas and mainly with overlapping layers of paint forming a certain idea of movement and depth.

Sometimes each job has hundreds of overlapping layers. This translates a bit of the idea that everything in the universe happens at the same time.
