Description
Original work by Dave Baranes, depicting the emblematic Dark Vador, a mythical figure of the Star Wars universe, on a real sign panel diverted from its original function.
At the crossroads of street art, pop art, and popular culture, this creation plays on the contrast between an everyday object, originating from the urban space, and one of the most recognizable icons of science fiction. The metallic support gives the work an industrial and raw character, while the artistic diversion transforms a piece of signage into a unique collectible item.
The choice of Dark Vador brings to the whole an immediately recognizable dimension, both graphic, iconic, and offbeat. A work that will naturally find its place in a contemporary interior, a loft, an office, or a collection dedicated to urban art and pop culture.
Presentation
Dave Baranes is a self-taught painter. He grew up in the Parisian suburbs where he was passionate about graffiti and Street-Art. Very quickly, his passion for the “wall" led him to create a trompe l'oeil mural. These years of decorative painting allowed him to acquire a perfect mastery of painting techniques but also an opening on more traditional art.
In 2015, Dave dares to embark on a collection of works and will produce felines with striking looks often very colorful, sometimes black and white. A very moving collection where the expression of looks questions us about our own humanity. Success on the networks is immediate ...
In 2018, Dave's works combine all these influences: the backgrounds of his canvases are worked with trompe l'oeil techniques, a clever mix of aerosols and acrylic for the realization of graffiti: with the "Old School" treaty. that Dave is particularly fond of. The more realistic animals illustrate, in this ultra-urbanized setting, the chaos of this world by asking us about the impact of man on our environment.
