Description
This composition explores the boundary between figuration and abstraction. The gaze immerses itself in a nocturnal landscape where the reliefs merge into a misty atmosphere.
The choice of a monochrome blue palette brings a melancholic depth to the scene. A pale star pierces the dark sky, timidly illuminating the mountain ridges.
The technique mixes acrylic and ink to create rich textures.
The work is based on observation and memory. The artist does not seek realism, but translates a lived sensation.
The material reveals the grain of the canvas, adding an organic aspect to the whole. The visual rendering favors daydreaming and calm.
This painting is part of a semi-abstract series where nature becomes a support for introspection. The balance of blue shades guides the eye towards the dark horizon.
Presentation
After a first training cycle at the École des Beaux-Arts of Pau (64), I specialized in engraving under the direction of Jean-Marie Granier at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris. I diversified my artistic practice notably by working with ink which has become central today in my work with drawing as a basis.
From engraving to burin, I maintain a taste for meticulous work, and paper as a support. Nature is a subject of observation but also of dream, I do not seek to make it naturalistic; I observe the landscape for a long time, I let it infuse me, I draw quickly like taking notes then returning to the studio, often several months later the ink emerges. Sometimes it comes just from the color, but for me this color always stems from what I have been able to observe and carry within me, it is as concrete as a drawing of a tree and it is important to me that it carries emotion.
