Description

This abstract composition is structured around a spectrum of deep and luminous blues. The acrylic material is stacked in successive layers. The gesture is frank. Blocks of color oppose areas of transparency.
The eye is drawn to geometric and organic shapes that intertwine. Touches of gold punctuate the space, bringing a precious light to the heart of the whole. White lines and delicate circles draw fragile contours.
The mixed media work brings a tangible relief. The support seems to bear the traces of a lived experience, between reality and imagination. The balance between dense areas and lighter spaces creates a controlled visual tension.
This piece created in 2019 explores the notion of perspective and limit. It suggests a fragmented horizon, evoking mobility and freedom. The contrast between ultramarine blue and golden accents structures the composition. The final rendering is characterized by precise technical superposition.

Mohamed Abusal, Tourism Through a Window No. 2
Palestine  • 1976

Presentation

Mohamed Abusal is a Palestinian multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores everyday life in Gaza through painting, photography, video, installation, and conceptual art. His work often begins with familiar experiences such as restricted movement, limited infrastructure, and shortages of basic resources, transforming them into imaginative and sometimes humorous artistic ideas. By moving between reality and fiction, Abusal creates alternative ways of thinking about mobility, technology, freedom, and daily life.

Born in Gaza in 1976, Abusal initially studied accounting before turning to art and design and developing his artistic practice independently. He has been active in Gaza's contemporary art scene and is a founding member of Eltiqa, an artists' collective established in Gaza. His projects often imagine alternative forms of infrastructure and movement, including A Metro in Gaza, which proposes a fictional transportation network connecting different parts of the Strip. Abusal has exhibited widely in Palestine and internationally and currently continues his artistic practice from his art studio in Marseille, France.
