La Ventana al Mediterráneo, 2026

Silvia Cereijo

This serene and evocative acrylic on canvas work is situated in the style of contemporary figurative abstraction with marked influences of synthetic cubism, fauvism, orphism, and Pop Art, distinguished by its impeccable deconstruction of space into mosaic planes and the vibrant articulation of its interior and exterior landscapes. The composition features from behind an elegant female figure dressed in a geometrically faceted dress leaning on the frame of an open window, contemplating a peaceful seascape with a sailing boat navigating, mountains in the background and picturesque white houses by the water, flanked in the interior space by a vase of flowers and a fruit tree on the table. The artist deploys a saturated and luminous chromatic palette dominated by cobalt blue, cyan, and emerald green of the Mediterranean landscape, contrasted by fiery accents of carmine red, terracotta orange, ochre yellow, and neutral tones, delineated by strong and sharp black outlines that structure the scene. Through this synthetic deconstruction and the clear definition of its geometries, the creator seeks to express the nostalgia of waiting, the peace of lyrical contemplation, and the poetic beauty that emerges by transfiguring the intimacy of the home and the sea horizon into a lyrical kaleidoscope of color, serenity, and plastic transcendence.
