Unique original artwork
explores the relationship between calligraphic scale, geometric order and devotional meaning.
Broad white letterforms organise the composition across contrasting black and blue-grey fields. Their elongated curves and horizontal extensions establish a directional movement, while a large circular medallion on the right introduces a concentrated structure of concentric inscriptions and interlaced geometry.
Yellow and gold-coloured passages give the medallion chromatic prominence. Smaller roundels echo its form elsewhere, connecting separate areas of the canvas. A band of green lettering across the upper edge provides a contrasting linear framework.
According to the artist, the painting takes its central theme from the recurring question in Surah Ar-Rahman: an invitation to recognise divine blessings and respond with gratitude. His interpretation connects this reflection with cosmic harmony, intelligence, speech and compassion.
The work approaches calligraphy as both a bearer of meaning and a means of constructing pictorial space. Changes in scale encourage attention to the relationships between individual letters, ornamental detail and the composition as a whole.

Presentation
Azhar Mehmood is a Pakistani visual artist working across hyperrealistic portraiture, pencil drawing, landscape painting and Arabic calligraphy. He began making art in childhood and has developed his practice over fourteen years.
His artistic interests centre on human expression, nature and cultural heritage. Through portraiture and drawing, he explores the descriptive possibilities of line, tone and closely observed detail. His landscapes provide a complementary space for engaging with natural forms and atmosphere.
In his Arabic calligraphy, Mehmood brings written language into dialogue with visual structure. Faith and spirituality inform this aspect of his practice, alongside an appreciation of the ornamental and compositional traditions of Islamic art.
Mehmood is also developing a body of abstract work, expanding his approach towards more intuitive expressions of emotion and responses to nature. His practice continues to evolve through the exchange between representational precision, calligraphic form and creative experimentation.
