Description
A line of horizon stretches over a sandy background. Blue silhouettes succeed each other in a linear rhythm. These human figures, with varied postures, inhabit a vast and stripped-down space. The blue declines into cool shades, contrasting with the warmth of the ground.
The painter explores here the relationship between the individual and the immensity. Silence dominates this composition. The characters seem suspended between solitude and communion. Their raised arms suggest a call or a quest for freedom.
The technique mixes acrylic with collage and sand. This mixture brings an organic texture to the surface. The grain of the support reinforces the mineral aspect of the landscape. The light is diffuse, eliminating any traditional vanishing point.
The work captures the essence of a journey. It evokes the Australian plains or the expanses of the Sinai. The repetition of forms creates a visual cadence. Each silhouette becomes a graphic sign in this monochrome desert. The final rendering favors the precision of the line on a neutral background.

Presentation
Born in Barcelona in 1966, Marcos Zrihen is a Spanish painter. As a teenager, he went to an exhibition of expressionist artist Edvard Munch, it was after this visit that he becae passionate about painting. He studied Fine Arts for three years, and then gave up his studies to finish his training by himself.
From the beginning, Marcos Zrihen's artistic reflection revolves around the place of man in his environment, in particular in the urban environment. Today his work turns around the emptiness and loneliness of big spaces. Whether in cities or by the sea, the lanscapes protray by the artist are always vast, populated by small characters whose stretched shadows reflect the misguidance. Two recent trips to the Sinai Desert and to the Australian Plains led the artist to use these spaces in his canvases, depicting men, nature, light, silence, loneliness, worry as well. Seizing the dynamism of life, Marcos Zrihen's canvases propose us a quest for freedom.
