Description
Artwork painted on 70 mm reinforced cardboard, glued onto a carlène plate and protected by a 2mm plexiglass plate.
The balance is established between graphic rigor and intuition. A charcoal gray block dominates the center of the composition. Its dense mass seems to float on a light and clean background. A bright yellow rectangle comes to break this neutrality. This chromatic touch brings forth a frank light and attracts the eye.
The technique relies on a precise mixture of materials. Acrylic is combined with charcoal and lead pencil. Pigments and ink come to highlight the contours. Fine, almost fragile lines traverse the canvas. They evoke traces, scratches, or engraved memories.
The style is within mastered minimalism. Each stroke is thought out to structure the space. The contrast between opaque areas and airy passages creates a subtle depth. The final rendering favors raw material. The approach is both direct and thoughtful. The painting ends with vertical black lines that anchor the composition in the lower yellow part.
Presentation
My paintings have been exhibited nationally, and some have been purchased abroad. For me, colors and shapes are the basis of abstract painting. I express myself primarily on wood or heavy linen canvases. These supports allow me to feel closer to reality and thus find greater balance in my work. I use various media such as binders, plaster, acrylic, charcoal, pencils, rare pigments, varnishes, and collage in my artistic process.
"The primary purpose of the material is not to give a sense of volume to the work. It must be left in its imprint state, it must remain, nevertheless, as a founding part of the project, upon contact with it the work comes to life."
