Description
A streamlined silhouette is drawn on a dark, earthy background. The line, fine and hesitant, outlines a torso whose presence is asserted through a play of materials.
The palette favors ochre and earthy tones. These warm shades contrast with the rigor of an olive and gray background.
The artist works the texture with precision. Areas of pure white, almost chalky, break the composition. These luminous flashes bring visual breath and tactile relief.
The rendering suggests an organic form, between the human and abstraction. The light seems to emanate from the center of the figure, creating an effect of transparency.
This work explores silence and solitude. The simplicity of the lines reinforces the contemplative quality of the whole.
The balance rests on the opposition between the density of the background and the lightness of the contours. The work ends with a superposition of pictorial layers with matte finishes.
Presentation
François Sauvage is a self-taught artist whose particularity is the modeling of leather. After spending fourteen years in art workshops in Paris, he developed a unique technique that allowed him to shape life-size leather figures. Exhibited and sold all over the world, this particular mastery earned him to collaborate in the renovation of prestigious places where his decoration proposals combined aesthetics and refinement.
Since 2021 he has devoted himself entirely to his passions: clay and painting.
His large-format paintings impose and reveal a palette of colors that are sometimes soothing, playful with a pure lightness, at the same time powerful, deep and sensitive.
