Description
Screenprint by the Mexican artist Fabián Ugalde (b. 1967), published in 2006 in a limited edition. Ugalde's work examines the saturation of images in contemporary culture, appropriating the visual language of advertising, comics, pictograms and digital graphics and returning it to the viewer with irony and a sharp formal economy. The English title, "Electrocuted", is characteristic of his taste for blunt, signal-like statements in which humor and violence coexist. Screenprinting – the medium of Pop and of commercial signage – is the natural vehicle for this vocabulary, producing flat, saturated areas of color and hard edges that reinforce the graphic impact of the image. Sheet 70 x 60 cm. A representative work by an artist widely exhibited in Mexico and internationally, and an accessible acquisition for collectors of contemporary Latin American art.
