Description
This figurative sculpture imposes an attentive silence. The Buddhist monk sits with natural simplicity. His gaze, imbued with serene wisdom, dialogues with the viewer. The modeling work emphasizes the precision of the features and the texture of the skin.
The chromatic contrast structures the composition. The mineral gray of the body in black sandstone meets the brilliance of a saturated red. This garment, colored with the ochres of Roussillon, envelops the monk like a second skin. The folds are marked, almost sculptural, bringing an organic relief to the whole.
The artist plays on the opposition between the finesse of the face and the brute force of the drapery. This tension creates a striking visual balance. The relaxed posture suggests a moment of rest or deep contemplation. The work explores human presence through a dialogue between sobriety and colored intensity. Every detail, from the toes to the wrinkles on the forehead, testifies to a rigorous analysis of the anatomy. The piece ends with a direct and raw contact with the ground.
