Biography
Born in 1926, Ted Harrison was a British-Canadian painter. He studied painting at the West Hartlepool School of Art, before returning to teach for almost 30 years at the same institution.
Harrison is most widely known for his vibrant paintings depicting the culture and colors of the Yukon. His fantastical color palette results in mystical, psychedelic paintings which reconfigure reality.
Harrison's paintings earned him national recognition and acclaim. He received honorary doctorates from three distinct Canadian universities and in 1987 was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Harrison died in 2015.
