Cha Sun

Cha Sun is a Korean artist who lives and works in Tours.

For several years, Sun Cha has continued his dialogue with “La Peinture". It is in a gentleness and restrained violence that the work seems to arise easily of itself. Each painting is an exploration of her interiority, a connection, through this tight thread that is memory, between her native land, South Korea, her culture and new “platforms" where she seeks to land.

The artist works with acrylic as well as oil. His writing combines glazing and impasto. Distant memories emerge and slide past each other. Layer by layer, the painter suggests her stories to us and arouses our poetic imagination.

abstract or figurative? We hesitate. It is true that through these magnificent, luminous and fresh colors, we do not see any unstructured element. Everything is harmony: “My origins…" confides the painter. Blue and white dominate in certain works. Impasto with a knife, thick, here and there, which could make one think of mountainous reliefs, of oceanic seas. To a world in creation where nature offers its powerful elements but without violence. A spark ? A flash of lightning in a sky of absolute purity? The impression when looking at certain paintings of also penetrating into the heart of the mineral. Cha Sun, who studied at the Beaux Arts in Seoul and Tours, works on intuition and lets his brush flow according to his emotions...

Since 2009, Cha Sun has exhibited in Seoul, Moscow, Belgium and France. His creations are already present in private and public collections.
