Michel ROY discovers the photo at sixteen. He then lives in the suburbs and spends most of his time in books, refuges to escape an environment that seems hostile to him. Following in the footsteps of Boris VIAN, he uses the photographic tool to face reality and transform it as he wants to live it: “This story is entirely true since I imagined it from start to finish. 'other' Boris VIAN Photography becomes a means of enriching his imagination by re-creating what he is looking at. He takes many photos of his neighborhood, to exorcise and appropriate his environment. See the city as he wants to live it. He becomes both actor and spectator of his environment. The photo offers him a framework to project himself out of a daily life that does not always seem acceptable to him. In 1982, he exhibited for the first time black and white prints on the theme of the suburbs. Enriched by this experience, he exhibits regularly to share his vision and continue to progress and learn. He constructs his photos with rigor and spontaneity, expressing his emotions, beyond any intellectual approach. Contrasting images, cast shadows, play with lights and lines are in part his signature.
