Presentation

The Italian artist Antonella Zazzera graduated in 1999 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia. Through the chiaroscuro technique, she learns to model form with light. His research led him to become interested in the power of the sign and the trace, and his first works evoke the graffiti of Brassaï and Dubuffet. She multiplies her experiences and discovers the importance of light in defining space and form. She wants to transcribe this discovery into a more dynamic language that pushes her towards three-dimensionality. She finds her common thread: copper. Antonella Zazzera tirelessly weaves the fabric of her sculpture with her hands, seeking to feel, almost blindly and instinctively, the point of harmony of the place where her copper wire will be inserted, tie a knot there and leave again. in another direction. This mesh of threads ordered according to a very precise ritual forms a sort of metal frame where the light clings and is reflected. The technique is refined, the raw material is diversified. The artist plays with variations of shape and color, thicknesses of wire and vibratory effects caused by the multiplication of lines to produce high-tension sculptures. In 2016, Antonella Zazzera was presented in the gardens of the Cité de la Céramique during “Sèvres Outdoors". In 2017, the artist was exhibited in the collective exhibition “Château Kairos", at Château de Gaasbeek in Belgium. 2018, the gallery presents a work by Antonella Zazzera during the exhibition “Drawings of Sculptors". The artist is also presented in the exhibition “Weaving, Braiding… when sculpture parades" at the Villa Datris Foundation (L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue — France). In 2019, the gallery is dedicating a personal exhibition to the artist “LUMINESCENCE". A monograph entitled Antonella Zazzera. Armoniche tensioni is published in 2023: Edited by Federico Sardella.
