Biography

Hassan El Glaoui (1924–2018) was a renowned Moroccan painter celebrated for his vibrant works inspired by traditional Moroccan culture. Born in Marrakech, he was the son of Thami El Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakech, but chose to pursue his passion for art despite familial expectations.

El Glaoui gained particular recognition for his depictions of horses and Moroccan fantasias, characterized by vivid colors and a striking sense of dynamism. His talent was discovered and encouraged by Sir Winston Churchill, who urged him to pursue an artistic career. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he developed his unique style, blending European and Moroccan influences.

With a long and prolific career, Hassan El Glaoui is considered one of the pioneers of modern Moroccan art, a true bridge between tradition and modernity. His works have been exhibited internationally, leaving a lasting legacy in the global art scene.
