Josh Delo, born in 1981, is a Franco-American painter whose artistic journey is deeply rooted in the fusion of cultures, the origin of his identity. Growing up in New York, he witnessed the evolution of billboards and advertising posters. In the middle of this urban landscape where advertising is an integral part of our daily lives, Delo seeks comfort in galleries and museums, places where art is expressed to the public. Frustrated by the emphasis on marketing commercial brands rather than celebrating profound artistic ideas, Delo expressed his views by stating: "We market the biggest brands, with the biggest models, on the biggest buildings, but never the greatest artists, with the greatest ideas, giving us the greatest freedom. »

Delo's artistic epiphany occurred during a trip to Paris in 1999. Consecutive visits to the Louvre Museum and the Center Pompidou exposed him to the works of great masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Delacroix, Miró , Magritte, Ernst and Kandinsky. This experience marked a turning point in Delo's creative journey, inspiring him to blend not only cultures, but also eras.

His work invites viewers to contemplate the reflections of kings and nobles, juxtaposed with the vibrant world of Keith Haring: Baroque room paintings adorned with expressionist paintings. Delo also mixes comic book styles with the boldness of pop art. He imagines scenarios like Superman observing the works of Takashi Murakami, provoking questions about art, expectations and individual tastes, through a question: "Do I have the same artistic tastes as Superman?" »

The city's billboards are replaced by the works of famous artists like Pablo Picasso, and the metro's advertisements give way to George Condo.

Josh Delo's art challenges viewers to explore the contrasts, oxymorons, and intriguing dichotomy he presents. Delo's designs are not only visually aesthetic; they serve as a canvas for contemplation, prompting reflection on the ever-evolving nature of art and its profound impact on human experience.
