Marta Grassi is a visual artist born in 1961 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She has lived and worked in Paris for the last 30 years.
Marta Grassi is a inventive artist, who does not limit her practice to a particular style. Her works oscillates between painting and drawing, figuration and abstraction in harmonious and colorful canvases. She plays with the colors and the materials in a real search for experimentation. The interaction with her support is essential in her work, since it is her who guides her brush. In fact, the artist does not try to completely master her gestures: she lets chance interfere, conferring thus great freedom to the medium itself. Her singular and very personal work is poetic and anti-conformist. Coming from her imagination, they incite dreaming. The viewer is seized by this delicate and enigmatic universe, where he is free to interpret what he sees.
