Biography
Léopold Van Roy, born in Antwerp in 1921 is a self-taught painter.
His style is close to cubism and sometimes of naïve and folk art. He depicts circus characters, children, still life images, girls with big eyes and mysterious birds.
In 1947, he became a part of the group “Young Belgian Painting”. His first solo show was presented at the Galerie Apollo in Brussels, in 1949. He has also worked with the Cobra group for a while and has illustrated one of their magazines in 1950.
