
Biography
Born in 1909 in Shanghai, Lu Yanshao was a Chinese painter. Initially trained in calligraphy and poetry under the tutelage of Wu Hufan, the artist went on to produce traditional Chinese landscape depictions. Characteristic of his work was the use of bold and broad brushstrokes, to produce canvases with seamless transitions between color and outlines.
The artist died in 1993 in Shanghai, China. His work remains on display at several prestigious galleries around the world, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in British Columbia.
