Biography

Influenced from an early age by a watercolor grandmother, Canata Amandine, born in 1987, began drawing in a self-taught way then took evening classes at the Beaux Art d'Angers. A graduate in the history of art and visual arts, Amandine works as an auctioneer clerk in the auction sector in Paris at the Drouot hotel. In 2014, she created Octopus-Shop in collaboration with the artist Edmond Li Bellefroid. Inspired by the world of Disney and manga as well as the cinema of the 80s, it is only natural that she presents drawings of diversions of her cult characters from pop culture on old paper (maritime and geographical maps , sheet music, engravings ....). From this work, mainly in acrylic, emerges a playful and second-degree spirit. At the same time, Amandine is developing a whole new universe animated by her love for old, curious and unusual objects. This imagery, more personal, centered on vanities (skull, scientific drawings, still lifes), Amandine develops with watercolor, a medium that she considers more demanding and delicate.
