Biography

Jacqueline (1920-2009) and Jean Lerat (1913-1992) were a couple of French ceramists.

They lived in the village of La Borne, near Sancerre, famous for its pottery tradition since the 16th century and for its center of contemporary ceramics today.

While this art declined over time, the couple devoted themselves entirely to it and mastered working with sandstone cooked with wood. They initially followed the footsteps of their predecessors, producing objects with useful purpose such as tabacco pots or bottles.

In 1955 they separated, and each of them moved towards a more creative and artistic universe.
