Presentation

Born in 1953, Yvon Cochery is a French sculptor who lives and works in Eure-et-Loire.

After getting trained in the family studio (size, engraving and marble inlays), Yvon Cochery expanded his technical research in stone, glass, bronze and resin.

Initially, Cochery's work highlighted tormented figurative expression. Today he uses many curves and larger volumes, which sometimes might seem excessive and not realistic but actually aren't. The portrayal of these refined gigantic volumes accentuates Cochery's playful sculptures. The artist himself states "the gigantic size of his sculptures give them a playful look. Children hang about over easily and just for an instant, they get the feeling of being reassured and pacified.

Woman is Yvon Cochery's favorite theme, but he also created a character called AZTEK in 2006. A child of Pop art and Mangas, symbol of the Artoy generation, AZTEK reveals Cochery's fertile imagination. " Everything begins with the idea to create a mascot in order to represent my work as a sculptor".

Cochery's sculptures have been exhibited in France, Netherlands, Monaco, Italy and Belgium.
