Jean De Cluni

Born in 1968 in Lorraine, Jean De Cluni is divided between his large workshop in Lesquerde, a village in the south of France, and his workshop in London in the United Kingdom. After studying art and having evolved in the world of arts and crafts for a private clientele, historical monuments and museums, Jean de Cluni returned to the creative field with a return to his first encounters as with the sculptor Josep Casteill by creating his workshop in the south of France. The artist guides his artistic journey towards abstraction and kinetic art while not limiting himself to his particular fields. It is more precisely his professional career that has influenced his work by restoring works of the Symbolist painter Boleslas Biegas, a painting of lyrical abstraction by Zao Wou KI, and a few other painters of modern art and by artists like Delaunay or Kupka, and for kinetic art by Yaccov Agam, Carlos Cruz Diez and Soto. It is also through visits to the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York such as the Guggenheim Museum and especially those in London where he stays regularly that the artist has benefited from a fantastic crucible to practice his art. The sketch of the works is often carried out by lines of experimental ink that only the hazard of the pose allows to shape a harmony of forms that the colors transcend. The transition from craftsman to artist takes place in 2014 by exhibiting in art fairs in France such as Artup in Lille or Smart in Strasbourg with the Galerie Phylactère. In 2019, a first exhibition at the Port Vendres art center presents his Kinetic Art works.
