Presentation
Born in Mauritania, Malika Diagana asserts her multicultural heritage. Her mother, Cape Verdean, is a writer, her father, Soninké, is a lawyer. His uncle Julien Lopez is one of the first studio photographers in Saint Louis. In the 1960s, he created the Photo Artista studio. Coming to Dakar for her graphic design and video studies, she acquired a solid skill in light management.
Photography is for her a way to give her point of view, to tell a multitude of stories, to share with others as well as a duty of archiving so that future generations can bear witness to the past.
She has exhibited at the Institut Français de Saint-Louis, the Goethe Institut and the Galerie Léopold Sédar Sengho in Dakar.
