After completing his education at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam in 1973, he first made ceramic sculptures and later also bronze sculptures and paintings. Although the work of Peter Harskamp is figurative, it also has a clear abstraction. You could say on the edge of both abstraction and figuration. His unsurpassed original form of image is clearly recognizable in his paintings and images. This combination of style and composition makes his visual language unique. The works are disarming partly due to the positive themes as well as the tranquility that emanates from them. The paintings are layered so that the colours have a special appearance. Peter Harskamp has exhibited since 1975 when he became an independent visual artist. Exhibitions in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Germany and Taiwan.
