Biography
Evan Mendel is a painter, muralist, and street artist. Born and raised in the valley outside of Los Angeles, his artistic practice developed through his immersion in local countercultures. He pushes the boundaries of figurative art, experimenting with different modes of abstraction.
Influenced by the DIY aspects of skateboard and surf culture, Mendel began showcasing his paintings in pop-up exhibitions. These eventually led to invitations to participate in group shows in the Los Angeles area. Mendel has shown his works in esteemed U.S. galleries, such as New Image Art; The Seventh Letter Gallery; Subliminal Projects, and The Lodge. In 2016, he had his first solo show at the Studio Space/Gallery of the renowned muralist and designer David Flores. Mendel's paintings are in several private collections, including those of celebrities Ewan McGregor, Jamie Foxx, and Maiara Walsh.
