Biography
Korin Faught (b. 1981) is an acclaimed American painter known for her figurative works that blend classical aesthetics with a contemporary sensibility. Raised in Colorado, she moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and earned a BFA in Painting from the Art Center College of Design in 2004.
Faught is celebrated for her elegant depictions of femininity, often using repeated female figures in her compositions to explore themes such as motherhood, memory, and identity. These "twin" or "triplet" motifs evoke a sense of psychological depth and visual rhythm, while referencing the style of painters like John Singer Sargent.
Her inspirations span mid-century modern design, fashion, and horror cinema, contributing to the enigmatic, sometimes gothic mood of her art. She primarily works in oil on panel, using a “wet into wet" technique that enhances the emotional richness and texture of her paintings.
Notable solo exhibitions include "Viridescent" (2021) and "Lost Days" (2016), both held at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Her work has also been shown in New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Seattle, and featured in publications such as ArtNews, Abitare, and American Art Collector.
Faught lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband, Adam Jones of the band Tool, and their two children.
