Largo Art Gallery is happy to present to you a solo exhibition by Svetoslava Georgieva. This is the first solo show of the Bulgarian artist in "Largo", the artworks have been prepared especially for this space and the exhibition is called "Situations and clichés".

What Svetoslava shares about the project:
"Often the situations we find ourselves in are clichés, and clichés are situations. In a figurative sense, in which the word is more common, a cliché is an idea, phrase or expression that, because it has been widely used or repeated, has lost its force or novelty and has become a topic or something common.The word can also refer to various stereotypical situations, characters and whole plots, the frequent use of which has deprived of originality. In art, the most common clichés refer to love issues, and these are our everyday situations.
It is difficult to deal with a topic that has occupied artists for centuries. It is even more difficult when, as an artist, you go in your artistic practice in a certain and completely different direction. This exhibition is made especially for Largo Art Gallery and is my personal bold experiment as a conceptual painting experience to show how I see the modern female identity and clichés about sexuality, marriage, relationships, situations that are universal and human, from an ironic and ambiguous perspective. Someone told me, that storytelling is very important and when I thought about how this could happen, what it might look like, I came across visual and all sorts of clichés, with my own yardstick for so-called "good taste." I realized that over the last hundred years, stereotyping has been phenomenal in every way. "

"Art has always been a reflection of a person's life in a certain period of time, his actions, objectivity, attitudes, ideas and sensuality. When I wondered how I could visually show the modern individual, I encountered my own stereotypes of modernity, imagery. And I toyed with the idea of ​​the connection between situations and clichés and how fun and ironic this connection is. and its interpretation.A little Dada, a little abstract, a little postmodern, a little pop art, combined techniques between reliefs, encaustics, collage, shellac, complete eclecticism, say metamodernism, because of the still unclear future of the concept. The basis is the experiment. "

The exhibition runs in Largo Art Gallery's main hall at 8th Han Krum str., Varna, Bulgaria until the 22nd of February 2022. The project is realized with the financial support of the National Culture Fund under the program "One-year grant 21".
