Tropico
Bologna From November 25, 2017 to January 13, 2018
A magical realism, in which we find the atmospheres of the impenetrable mangroves of the Daintree forest, the oldest tropical forest in the world, the green of eucalyptus, the magnificent red of banksia, the palms that rise to the blue of the sky, and the sun that during the winter solstice culminates in the zenith.
The wide color surfaces, unpublished for Tellas, contain minute naturalistic details and at the same time vibrating abstract forms, that seem to float in the light air, just before a sudden rain.
Each work becomes a surreal fragment of a luxuriant, almost asphyxiating, yet silent, mysterious nature, in which it is easy to pass from observer to be observed guests, as in the magnificent and impressive Wet Tropics. The touches of white, which in Tropico Assoluto become blades of light, in the works on paper dictate the rhythm of the composition.
Queensland, a vast territory divided between rain forests, coral reefs and tropical forests, extends for almost two million kilometers in North-Eastern Australia; in the works of the exhibition the strength of these wild spaces is revealed, represented by an uninterrupted flow of colors that seems to continually renew itself with new meanings, new details, new adventures and paths to be undertaken.
Every large mural, painting or work on paper by Tellas describes a world, far or near, real or imaginary, a primordial nature and an energy from which we feel unconsciously attracted. His works are a personal and intimate vision of the elements of the landscape, a meditative process that combines space and forms, transforming man into a traveler, lost in a world without limits. With their bright colors and surreal details, the paintings are richly representative: the evidence of the artist's hand is in every sign, able to echo our personal reference points.
