Here is the story of this series straight from Evgeniya:
“The 'Story line' series was produced after several trips to England.
Although I traveled there for work, I had time to walk around London several times at different times of the day and in different seasons.
It was important for me to see the city in the rain or in the sun, with autumn trees or in the twilight of spring. But the main thing in these walks was loneliness. I hardly understood what was being said around me. People were moving very fast, they were living ordinary lives. I felt invisible, a ghost, it seemed that only houses, sculptures or flowers could see me. It was inexplicably beautiful. As if I were the spirit of the place. No one saw me, so everyone behaved naturally.
I imagined what would have happened if the sculpture of a Regent Park nymph had come to life and fled to town. A naked girl would wander the streets, study at home, sit on a bench in the park. Would you notice her? What would happen? Would you mistake a wonderful sight for a monster, an intruder?
From the plots I imagined, I had a story about a nymph and a city. Of the unrealizable and the real. About what it is, to be yourself in the city, and to see the city transformed into vapor and light. About what you imagine when you close your eyes, and only the sun is shining through your lashes. About other places you can fly when you are a spirit. And the nymph simply disappeared in front of the astonished police officers who tried to check her papers. "

Presentation
Born in Kirov (Russia) in 1980, painter and draughtswoman Evgeniya Buravleva explores ideas of time and space and their relationship with the individual. The subject of her artworks is a person exhausted by the present, forced to exist in the conditions of a post-truth world, a solitary figure on the verge of making a decision. Time and space in her works are intertwined with the character, depending on their actions. They are not separate for even a moment, remaining unabsorbed and vegetative.
The concept of light also plays a key role in Buravleva’s art. Light dissolves space and familiar objects, transforming into emptiness, a white blotch. It becomes an image of what the void conceals, leaving it up to the viewer and the protagonist to determine its meaning. Buravleva finds it important to grant her characters the experience of absence in the present moment—an existence of "no one, nowhere, and never," a solitary figure in the void.
Buravleva’s works are part of the collections of the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve of History, Architecture, Art, and Landscape, as well as various regional Russian art museums.
Since 2021, she has been included in the Russian Investment Art Rating 49ART.
