From Gotham is a series of paintings and drawings produced following Tarek's first trip to New York where he exhibited for the second time in October 2014. There, he produced live paintings and the idea came to him to recover objects, papers, stickers and all kinds of items picked up in the street. Back in France, he painted several canvases associating these "little moments of New York" with his imagination. A recurring character returns in several paintings to create correspondences in the works painted in 2014 and 2015. He appeared, from time to time, in some of his recent creations... He developed this series because he often returns to this city. You can discover the pictorial collaborations on canvas that Tarek had with Mat Elbé who made the stencils on the canvases of this series.

Presentation
Tarek and Mat Elbé met in Damascus, Syria while performing their military service cooperation. 1996 is the year of their meeting and 2014, is the year of their first artistic collaboration!
Back in France, Mat Elbé joined the team of the magazine "Paris Tonkar" directed by Tarek, the editor-in-chief. He got to know Yarps and other stencil artists who made him want to go to the other side of the mirror. Tarek, who had been painting since he was 14, offered him to paint canvases with four hands on themes they both appreciate: pop culture and New York... They have traveled many times to Montreal and New York. York: they launched the From Gotham project, an artistic project around exhibitions, publications, muralism, street art, and live painting on the theme of New York...
